- (General Dispatch) – Facebook discovered a group of hackers who intend to affect activists, journalists and politicians who belong to the Uyghur ethnic group, according to the technology giant said it was a “covert operation”.
- The potential victims were located abroad and others in the US, the CCP has started to besiege the ethnicity in different ways after the international community realized that the allegations of the Uyghur community were true.
- “Hackers attempted to gain access to computers and phones by creating fake Facebook accounts for supposed journalists and activists, as well as fake websites and apps aimed at attracting a Uyghur audience” said Voice of America News (VOA).
- On the other hand they attempted to create links to fake websites for victims to access allowing malicious software to extract information about their contacts, activities and location.
- It was a project funded by China between the years 2019-2020, it was directed to different people in different nations, the number of victims were more than 450, but Facebook managed to prevent the attack and notified the community.
- Facebook managed to identify the attackers, called as “”Evil Eye” a group that was highly skilled in the subject of programming, and they had a source of funding to carry out the various attacks.
- “Specifically, our malware research and analysis found that Beijing Best United Technology Co., Ltd. (Best Lh) and Dalian 9Rush Technology Co., Ltd. (9Rush), two Chinese companies, are the developers behind some of the Android tools deployed. By this group “ Facebook said in a report.
- Currently the CCP has funded several hacker groups in order to affect the security of different nations and to be able to extract information from important targets and thus be able to continue its expansionism worldwide.
