- (General Dispatch) – A number of scientists have dismissed talk of a possible third wave hitting the UK community again in the summer months.
- The UK Pandemic Influenza Scientific Group’s Pandemic Influenza in the UK (SPI-MO) subgroup of the SAGE quango issued a forecast that Covid-19 was spreading at an accelerated rate, compared to previous waves.
- However, scientists working for the government told The Telegraph that the SPI-MO argument is unfounded; the forecast so far is for the end of the year.
- Despite the gradual lifting of coronavirus restrictions, as stipulated under Boris Johnson’s agenda, an increase in covid-19 is expected in the last months of the year, but only if no biosecurity measures are used.
- They link this type of information as a strategy to generate fear in the British community, and thus try to associate the coronavirus with politics in some way; however the successful vaccination campaign has brought other positive results.
- In The telegraph media a senior scientist gave statements under anonymity, he said that the opinion they issued, there were certain important points, where the virus can spread differently depending on the weather season.
- “I think the expectation is that there will be more waves, but they won’t be as big as we’ve had, unless things go really bad. At the right time, I think it’s more likely to be fall than summer, but we’ll see,” said the source.
- On the other hand this type of opinions arose after the limited opening they have made to different recreational venues; however the University of Edinburgh issued another opinion, stating that sunlight prevents covid-19 from spreading.
