United States Outperforms European Union in its Fight Against Covid-19

  • By Jennifer Prill
  • (General Dispatch) – Despite the barrage of criticism received during the development and production of coronavirus vaccines in the United States, the country is ahead in the distribution of vaccines compared to Europe.
  • Thanks to the intervention of former President Trump with his so-called Operation Warp Speed, three vaccine brands have been licensed and today at least 44 million US citizens are fully vaccinated.
  • Consequently, the priority of the United States was its population, such a measure left really rich countries without vaccines, in addition, the European Union looked for other alternatives that were not satisfactory.
  • According to economist Nicolas Bouzou, the European Union, in its eagerness to reduce vaccine costs, remained out of the reach of U.S. companies. This fact has caused more money to be spent in the face of the social crisis of covid-19.
  • Specialists believe that Europe’s decision to make the vaccine manufacturers responsible for the side effects that the vaccine could cause hindered the production process.
  • The European Union has taken many incongruous decisions and today its population is unprotected as a result, while the spread of the virus continues to cause discomfort.
  • In contrast, the United States has already distributed the vaccine to at least 24% of its citizens who have received the first dose of the covid-19 vaccine.
  • Finally, the efforts made in the Trump era can now be felt, as the country is fighting the battle against the coronavirus with up to 95% effectiveness.
