- (General Dispatch) – White House Secretary Jen Psaki has spoken out to defend the Michigan governor after being harshly criticized by the media.
- Psaki said that Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s effort has been great, and even though she has faced several complications, she will be able to solve them.
- The governor’s administration has been heavily criticized after coronavirus cases are on the rise, despite restrictions imposed and biosecurity measures not being enforced.
- According to statistical studies have now revealed that the highest number of coronavirus cases in the U.S., Michigan is at the top of the list, apparently the governor has not pronounced what solution to provide to the health crisis.
- The secretary pointed the finger at the federal government for not providing the necessary assistance to the governors who had requested support for additional coronavirus testing.
- In support of Gretchen, Psaki said, “If you go back more than a year ago, she led that fight to make sure that first responders in the state had PPE [Personal Protective Equipment] that they needed when the cases took off.”
- Former President Donald Trump had warned governors not to rely solely on the federal government, and urged finding other alternatives to generate revenue that could help against the coronavirus.
- Governor Gretchen said infections have gotten out of control as new variants of the virus have emerged, making it more difficult to detect, and the immunization campaign has been late.
