  • By James Kravitz
  • (General Dispatch) – According to a report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Michigan ranks second in coronavirus infections.
  • The information was released as hospital facilities once again collapsed after recording a progressive 633% increase in positive cases.
  • According to the data revealed, Michigan had a total of 701,378 cases this past week, which alarmed health authorities.
  • So much so, that health scientists indicated that the increase in infections is likely due to covid-19 B.1.1.7 variants.
  • Recent research reported that the virus is 50% more contagious than the previous year at the height of the Chinese coronavirus boom.
  • The South African strain B.1.3.5.1 was also found to be already present in the state, which is why prevention measures should be strengthened.
  • Consequently, nineteen states in the nation also recorded progressive increases in covid-19 infections. Fourteen states reported a decrease in the number of infections.
  • Health authorities urged the population to continue to receive immunizations to counteract the wave of infections that is once again underway.
