Russia Gives Twitter 30 Days to Remove Child Pornography

  • By Jennifer Prill
  • (General Dispatch) – By means of a ruling, Russia granted a 30-day extension to the twitter platform to remove all illegal content found there, including child pornography.
  • Failure to comply with the resolution issued by the nation’s executive will result in twitter being banned from the country.
  • Officials attached to the regulatory bodies of the communication platforms assured that warnings were previously sent, which the company completely evades.
  • Meanwhile, the company states that the government is concerned not by the content of the platform, but by the constant insults that children from the social network emit against Putin. In other words, curtailing freedom of expression.
  • The context of the dilemma arises from the large amount of pornographic material available to children.
  • One of the actions taken by the government was to slow down the speed of Twitter as a sanctioning measure to force them to comply with the sentence.
  • Russian citizens believe that the measure only censures their freedom, and is just an excuse for the population not to be informed.
  • In short, if after thirty days the company does not comply with the order, the platform will be out of service for Russian citizens.
