- (General Dispatch) – The European Union has presented a serious problem about mass migration, the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban, has spoken out claiming that measures are not being taken to prevent the large illegal flow of people arriving in Europe.
- In a recent interview with Minister Orban by the German media Focus, he spoke about migration to Europe and his position, which is defensive because the member states of the European Union are not tackling the problem at its root, one of the solutions being to help the poorest countries.
- Orban said that in Hungary there is a program that helps the most needy people in the Middle East called “Hungary helps”, so that they can have a better life and make repairs to their homes.
- Even so, there are many people who prefer to go to Europe without any kind of documentation, looking for an illusory dream, the consequences of which are that they are easy prey for human traffickers or end up being victims of scams.
- Orban has worked with Matteo Salvini, leader of the national populist La Lega party, and as a minister he applied various measures such as closing ports to migrant boats and persecuting NGOs that were apparently helping.
- Then Salvini had to leave office, because a union was created, the populist left with his party calling itself Democratic Movement-Left Creation, which undid the blockades, thus increasing the flow of migrants and cases of drowning, which had decreased when he was in charge.
- That union was replaced by a “technical government” that has worsened the situation by not implementing any measures, so it is expected that in the new elections Salvini will be elected again.
- Australia has taken a firm stance on blocking migrants by preventing their transit and any kind of asylum claim. Minister Orban said “Hungary wants to address demographic challenges by supporting families and enacting strong family policy measures, not by inviting immigrants.”
