Microsoft Customers Still at Risk From Hackers

  • (General Dispatch) – The large technology company is in constant tension after a group of hackers carried out an attack on a large number of emails taking advantage of vulnerabilities in the system.
  • After the attack the hackers are trying to get in another way with a new ransomware called “DearCry” to continue trying to steal information from important company targets.
  • Microsoft had issued a statement to its business customers that a group of hackers called Hafnium have tried to take advantage of the errors that has had the system is presumed that this group of attackers are from China.
  • The company detailed that the attackers’ targets were key security institutions for the state, such as law firms, defense contractors and high-ranking individuals who perform functions in health sectors.
  • However, the company said that these vulnerabilities have already been addressed, but that it will take time to disinfect the large number of institutions that fell victim to this cyber-attack.
  • According to a high-level US IT expert who helped track down where the attack came from, he revealed the number of affected emails to be approximately 60,000, while Microsoft was trying to fix the vulnerabilities.
  • The company reported that people who may be vulnerable are those who have automatic updates turned off. On the other hand Microsoft said that the number of attacks has increased considerably.
  • “Global experts are using massive preemptive efforts to combat hackers who are working day in and day out to produce an exploit that can successfully exploit remote code execution vulnerabilities in Microsoft Exchange.” Said cybersecurity firm CPR.
