Mitch McConnell Retracts from Warning Active Businesses Against Involving Themselves in Political Affairs

  • By John Deloria
  • (General Dispatch) – After some well-known corporations publicly expressed their rejection of the voter integrity law in Georgia, Mitch McConnell retracted his call for companies to “stay out of politics.
  • This Wednesday, the Senate Minority Leader offered public statements in which he assured that his comments were not meant in a derogatory manner.
  • Notably, the rhetoric revolves around Georgia’s law that is structured as a defense mechanism to prevent voter fraud, requiring voters to provide identification to vote by mail and decrease the use of ballot boxes.
  • McConnell initially called The Coca-Cola Company, Major League Baseball and Delta Air Lines “stupid” for meddling in political matters, such as the Peach State’s election amendment.
  • He also implied that corporations should mind their business affairs and not opine on government policies.
  • Nevertheless, he affirmed that a public campaign is being developed to disqualify the legislative scopes that restructure the electoral laws, using recognized figures to achieve greater diffusion.
  • It can be pointed out that the context in which the events have developed has limited the governor’s purpose of implementing an electoral system that obeys his partisan interests.
  • In the meantime, there is no other option but to wait for the legislators to determine whether the electoral process will finally be carried out in the usual manner or will take a new turn.
