California Restaurant Receives Death Threats For Not Allowing Employee To Wear Black Lives Matter Mask
- (General Dispatch) – A restaurant located in Los Angeles, California. Called the girl and the fig, it began to receive threats after its former waitress Kimi Stout made public the censorship she claims to have experienced.
- “I would have absolutely abided by the mask rules if they had a sign up that said Black Lives Matter.” Stout explained.
- On the other hand, the restaurant made a statement in a facebook post, assuring the following “We have been quiet for too long. This entire incident has exploded over an employee that did not want to follow the rules. Plain and simple, We did not fire her, we did not force her out, she made her own decision to quit because she did not want to follow the rules,”
- “We do and have always believed in Black Lives Matter and we know it is a human right issue. I also believe that racism and discrimination have no place in our society,”
- “She is a very good server, and we are sorry to lose her.” Sentenced the restaurant in his post.
- Reactions from individuals and customers have been mixed, with some supporting the measure and others totally rejecting what they consider an act of racism.
- The restaurant is currently closed due to the situation, and it is not yet clear when it will reopen to the public.
- Meanwhile, the Black Lives Matter movement has organized a rally outside the restaurant in support of Stout on Valentine’s Day.
