- (General Dispatch) – Gov. Asa Hutchinson said in his most recent speech that if COVID cases and hospitalizations continue to decline, mandatory facemask use could be a mandatory rule until March.
- The governor’s communications director, Katie Beck, was in charge of announcing the news and said via email, “The Governor lifted all restrictions last Friday, converting the directives to guidelines. Restaurants can open to 100 percent capacity.”
- “The mask mandate will remain in effect until March 31, 2021, the Governor, in consultation with state health officials, will make a determination on whether to renew the mask mandate based on COVID-19 case numbers and hospitalizations in the state throughout the next month.” Beck Stated
- Despite having made a partial relaxation of the measures taken so far in the state, the governor assured that they are not definitive and can be modified over time.
- On the other hand, many other states of the American nation are returning to the measure of mandatory use of masks since the cases and contagions have increased exponentially in their respective areas.
- The governor of Arkansas invited people to continue taking basic social distancing and prevention measures to avoid being infected by the virus, as well as urged restaurants not to work at maximum capacity.
- Despite significant progress in the decline in the number of COVID cases, authorities remain cautious until a large part of the population is immunized, and the vaccination plan remains vital in consolidating this progress.
- The United States has been achieving a decrease in the number of deaths and infections since the beginning of the vaccination plans, although there is still a large part of the population to be immunized and only a little has been able to take the first dose, the results guaranteed by the various vaccines seem to be encouraging.
