France: Antisemite’s Trial Annulled for Having Taken Large Quantities of Drugs at the Time of the Crime

  • By Steph. G. Halston.
  • (General Dispatch) – A French court is debating whether to prosecute an apparent anti-Semitic murderer of a Jewish woman for using large amounts of marijuana on the grounds that the man was unaware of his behavior.
  • He viciously beat the 65-year-old woman and then threw her out of a third-floor window. So far, the suspect has not provided any further details about the incident.
  • Kobili Traore, 27 years old, is currently under hearing for his excessive use of cannabis, which has caused upset in the Jewish community, when he should have been prosecuted for the murder of the woman.
  • The media has referred to Koobili Traore as an anti-Semitic man; however the report cited France’s Advocate General, who will rule on this case.
  • If that were to happen, Traore would not go to prison, but to a psychiatric center until he is rehabilitated and reintegrated into society. The penalty he would face would be to have no contact with the deceased’s family for 20 years.
  • Muriel Ouaknine Melki, lawyer representing the family. She called on the French government to make laws tougher against people who commit violent acts under the influence of psychotropic substances.
  • Melki added that “the consumption of narcotics can be grounds for exemption from criminal liability in criminal matters.”
  • Although there is no sentence yet, it is expected that in the next few days a sentence will be determined, everything points to the fact that the 27 year-old man will be exonerated of this atrocious act.
