New Intranasal Vaccine Developed by India

  • By William Silgueiro
  • (General Dispatch) –  Ashwini Choubey, India’s Minister of Health indicated that an intranasal vaccine created by Bharat Biotech called “BBV154” is being developed and has already reached the stage where it can be used in the Hindu population.
  • This vaccine has made a difference compared to others that are given through an injection; studies are being evaluated to determine the efficacy of BBV154. According to the time interval between the first and second dose will be approximately 23 days.
  • But this is not the only vaccine being developed in India. The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, was immunized with a vaccine called “Covaxin” created by the same pharmaceutical company as BBV154.
  • India has perplexed many health experts after being one of the nations with the highest COVID infections. At the peak curve of 100,000 infections per day, they reduced it through their own vaccines to 11,000 cases in the month of February.
  • There have been several theories about India’s progress on COVID, one of them is the awareness of the citizens to comply with biosecurity measures and the other is that the immune systems of the population are more resilient.
  • The Indian government has been proud of the results obtained in the midst of the pandemic, after having suffered difficult times, and having been one of the most infected nations in the world.
  • India’s vaccines are expected to have high standards of efficiency unlike CoronaVac, which has been heavily criticized by the media and China’s own citizens who have suffered side effects and are reluctant to be immunized by it.
