  • By Ely Marquez
  • (General Dispatch) – Lawyer and politician Sadiq Khan admitted that since he has been mayor of London for 5 years, the streets have been unsafe for women and girls.
  • Mayor Khan holds another position under the law selected Police and Crime Commissioner being responsible for the security and policing of the entire British capital. The mayor in charge must present a strategic plan involving the various security institutions to reduce crime.
  • In an interview with Khan on LBC radio, the presenter asked him if he considered the streets of London unsafe for women following an incident involving a policeman who apparently abducted and murdered a 33-year-old woman.
  • Khan admitted that the security plan he presented has not been efficient, he claimed that the streets of London are unsafe for women and girls, since he took office in 2016.
  • Khan in the station referred that the experience of a man or boy is very different on the streets of the capital being less likely to be victims of attacks or some kind of violence unlike women or girls.
  • In the middle of the interview the presenter let in a call from a citizen and said “You give me statistics, Mr. Khan, but for me, as a parent, I say to you we don’t feel safe. We don’t feel safe in London and we want you to do something about it!”.
  • Lately attacks have been on the rise in the capital, cases have been coming into the police station about acid attacks on females or group sexual assaults on minors in the early 2020s.
  • Yet the mayor won’t admit that the insecurity has anything to do with his government, blaming British culture.
