- (General Dispatch) – China has made several attempts to acquire more shares of Ukraine’s JSC Motor Sich which is engaged in manufacturing engines for missiles, helicopters and jets of the world.
- Ukraine will not allow the purchase of Motor Sich by a Chinese company Beijing Skyrizon Aviation, after senior officials joined a protest to prevent this negotiation.
- The protesters claimed that this company is too important and strategic for the Ukrainian military to be left in the hands of the Chinese and jeopardize the nation’s security.
- President Volodymyr Zelensky said that although the Chinese company has acquired a large number of shares in Motor Sich, it cannot abruptly cancel the contract.
- For this reason Oleksiy Danilov, the head of the Security and Defense Council of Ukraine held a meeting where they made a decision to take back JSC Motor Sich and respond fairly by paying the value of each share acquired by the Chinese.
- The Chinese Investors accounted for 75% of the company’s shares, to such a decision issued by the Ukrainian Security Council the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded.
- “We urge the Ukrainian side to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies and investors in accordance with the law and properly handle the relevant issues.” said Representative Zhao Lijiang.
- Kyiv Post media reported that Chinese investors will sue the Ukrainian government for its interfering attitude. The owner of Skyrizon Aircraft Holdings, Wang Jing said that he will apply measures against such a decision.
- Moreover, the Ukrainian government through an investigation has linked Wang to the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). The PLA has ambitions to take over Motor Sich for the manufacture of jet engines and cruise missile technologies.
