- (General Dispatch) – Lawmakers have dispatched a group of independent lawyers to try to save New York governor Andrew Cuomo following his political scandal, and who has been asked to resign.
- Democrats Carl Heastie and Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles D. Lavine enlisted the services of the law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP to deal with Governor Cuomo’s sexual harassment and assault allegations.
- The law firm will work in conjunction with Charles Lavine who will lead the case saying they will be “authorized to vigorously pursue all evidence to determine the extent to which violations of law have occurred.”
- Gov. Cuomo has faced tough accusations after he concealed nursing home death figures when the Trump administration was in charge and on the other hand Secretary Lindsey Boylan accused him of sexual harassment.
- Lavine said he has a team that is transparent, professional and with years of experience that has the necessary tools to provide a solution as soon as possible to this political conflict.
- In another instance, New York Attorney General Letitia James is conducting an independent review evaluating specific allegations where the governor has denied any involvement.
- More than half of the legislators believe the allegations are true, yet President Biden issued a statement to Governor Cuomo, saying that if he is found guilty in the investigations, he must resign.
