  • (General Dispatch) – The Italian government imposed again strong measures against COVID 19 after 11 regions had an increase of infections, assigning them as “red zones”.
  • The areas that must abide by the measures are Lombardy, Lazio, Piedmont, Veneto, Marche, Campania, Emilia-Romagna, Molise, Puglia, Trento and Friuli-Venezia Giulia, as the virus has spread at an accelerated rate.
  • Italians residing in these areas will not be able to leave their homes unless in cases of emergency or jobs that requires businesses to be open despite the pandemic, for which they must present a document certifying this to the authorities.
  • The Italian government activated the “curfew” in the red zones IN a schedule from 10pm to 5am 7 days a week; residents will not be allowed to go far from their homes.
  • The government is evaluating how to apply the measures as Easter week is approaching, so far it has been assured that families will be able to visit each other from one residence to another.
  • All educational institutes will be closed at all levels, and classes will be taught through the network, children with disabilities will require personal attention.
  • All stores will be closed to the public, except those that are basic necessities or are needed for medical emergencies. Meal sites will be able to offer their service through home delivery.
  • “It has been more than a year since the pandemic began, and we are back to square one: school and business closures, no improvement in public transportation, few protections for the elderly and the most vulnerable groups, and a vaccination plan that is still struggling to get started,” said Italy’s national conservative Brethren leader, Giorgia Meloni.
  • Meloni gave a criticism as she regrets that Italy pass again the scenario when he started the COVID 19, and blamed the government for not performing well its management in the face of the health crisis.
