- According to statements made to The Washington Post, the officials have repeatedly urged the White House to take appropriate measures to stop the flow of migrants into the country.
- First, there was a clear insistence by senior Customs and Border Protection officials that they will not lift the measures imposed by Donald Trump, since the transition would mean a serious risk.
- Following the warnings, the Biden administration completely ignored the recommendations and repealed the Trump-era policies, resulting in the current events.
- It is worth noting that the relevant U.S. migration-related agencies have repeatedly expressed their denial of the irrational decisions currently being implemented.
- As a result, CBP agents have encountered at least 100,000 immigrants at the border, 9,000 of whom are minors and children.
- For his part, Texas Democratic Representative Vicente Gonzalez said, “When you create a system that incentivizes people to cross and release them, it immediately sends a message to Central America that if they cross, they can stay.”
- The scenario at the U.S. border remains critical, as thousands of people continue to move from Central America to achieve the American dream, with authorities unable to do anything about it.
