New Unit Created to Crack Down on Sexual Predators in Manchester

  • By John Deloria
  • (General Dispatch) –  Greater Manchester Police’s (GMP) “Child Sexual Exploitation Unit (CSE)” has been created to combat gangs engaged in the sexual exploitation of children in Manchester.
  • The declaration was made on March 18 and will consist of 54 officers and staff with “Dedicated specialist skills and resources to investigate and develop large-scale and complex CSE cases.” said Mabs Hussain deputy chief constable.
  • Hussain apologized to the public after similar units have been set up and have not achieved great results in bringing sexual predators to justice; however he said the new unit will do its best to combat the offenders.
  • The high-ranking official said that in their work they were limited in dealing with cases where those involved were of another nationality, and the police could be accused of being “racists”, for that reason the case was ignored.
  • On the other hand, they did not investigate further because the victims did not testify because they were under threat from these criminal groups, the authorities to close the case issued a report stating that the victims were engaged in prostitution of their own free will.
  • According to the Manchester Evening News the number of victim’s amounts to 468,332 and 809,540 perpetrators registered in the police database.
  • One report revealed a case of a 15-year-old victim, Victoria Agoglia, who died of an overdose after being injected with heroin by a 50-year-old man, as well as several other cases in the dangerous town of Rochdale.
  • It is hoped that these measures can improve the situation in Great Britain after an increase in cases of violence against women, a clear example of which was the murder of Sarah Everard.
