Sex Offender Arrested in Lerapetra in Greece

  • (General Dispatch) – A Pakistani immigrant man was arrested in the town of Lerapetra on the island of Crete in Greece after allegedly assaulting a woman with the intention of raping her.
  • The woman identified as Despina Platanaki reported that she was walking near an old town hall when she was attacked by the young Pakistani man, who threatened her with a knife and attempted to sexually assault her.
  • Platanaki was fortunately saved by a passerby, who prevented the man from carrying out the violent act after this incident the woman sent a message through the media that several women had been victims of attempted rape by the Pakistani.
  • Platanaki said “On Friday night, a man of Pakistani descent brutally and sexually assaulted me. After many hours of security statements, we discovered that this ‘gentleman’ had attempted and sexually harassed five more girls who have not testified.”
  • The woman sent a message to those victims who have been sexually assaulted, she said to go to the authorities and report these facts so that they do not go unpunished, she thanked that the other victims did not leave with serious physical injuries.
  • On the other hand Platanaki said “I want to publicly thank the man who saved me when the monster took out the knife to kill me. If you know who this man is and he told you about the incident, I would like to tell him that I would like to see him and tell him in person, thank you very much! “.
  • In recent months in Greece there has been an increase in sexual assaults mostly carried out by Pakistani immigrants; including the victims have been minors.
  • In November last year an event similar to the one in Platanaki occurred, a Pakistani man had assaulted a woman with a chain trying to strangle her and sexually assault her.
