United Kingdom Faces Massive Immigration

  • By Ely Márquez
  • (General Dispatch) – Illegal immigration continues to be a problem for the United Kingdom despite Home Secretary Priti Patel’s promise to implement new rules to reduce the number of illegal immigrants crossing the border.
  • 183 migrants were detained and taken to the port of Dover, according to media reports the group of immigrants departed from France, and was the largest number yet to successfully enter the nation.
  • Previously the largest number of migrants was 115, French authorities have received funding from the British government to increase security levels and reduce the number of migrants crossing.
  • But the efforts have not yielded results, and now this month alone 275 migrants have entered the country, alarming figures compared to last year. There were promises that the UK’s separation from the bloc would improve the situation.
  • The Minister of the Interior, Priti Patel, is preparing a project to reform different immigration rules, one of which is to deport immigrants arriving from France in less than 24 hours.
  • Currently the immigration system is obsolete, the procedures for deportations usually take too long, the issue of asylum has been a complex process for that reason it is expected to be reformed.
  • Patel told the sun “Under our new immigration plan, if people arrive illegally who no longer have the same rights as those who arrive legally; it will be more difficult for them to stay”.
  • According to the new measures they hope to implement one of them says that anyone trying to enter the country illegally will not have the option of acquiring British citizenship through the asylum system.
