- (General Dispatch) – The Spanish government announced that masks will be required from March 31 in all public spaces, including beaches, a necessary measure to avoid an increase in the number of cases.
- This rule will be applied until the government decides to remove it; it must be taken into account that Spain has been one of the countries of the European block where its economy has been seriously affected by the coronavirus blockades.
- One of the most affected areas has been the tourism sector, which decreased due to the restrictions on national and international travel, but for now it is expected to relax these measures.
- Easter week is the beginning for Spain to allow its inhabitants to carry out outdoor activities, share with friends and family, as long as they abide by the biosecurity measures.
- Professor Mark Woolhouse, a leading British epidemiologist, reported that the virus is not transmitted in free airs being this evidence from last year between the months of March and April.
- According to Woolhouse he said that “There were no outbreaks related to public beaches. To my knowledge, there has never been an outbreak of COVD-19 linked to a beach, anywhere in the world”.
- The Spanish government expects that with the measures imposed, the influx of seasonal visitors to the beaches will increase but does not rule out a possible increase in cases, after the European Commission announced a third wave of COVID 19.
