  • For her part, Mayor Femke Halsema stressed that “this is a struggle that although it has already begun, it is not over yet, the world must also achieve it”.
  • After twenty years of marriage, one of the first four couples married on the day of the enactment, who were in the place, expressed their joy and happiness that today thousands of people also do so.
  • In this sense, a large number of people belonging to the LGBTQ community throughout the country celebrated their day with banners, flags and announcements alluding to this commemoration, in view of the health restrictions that prohibit public gatherings.
  • A leading LGBTQ rights organization called COC said that the work towards total freedom for the community has not yet culminated. Discrimination still exists.
  • After multiple achievements, much of society still registers acts of violence against homosexual people, including premeditated homicides.
  • Finally, one of the leaders of the community sent a message to the nations proclaiming his wish that all homosexual people on the planet can enjoy a life of freedom like the ones they have.
