Churches in France Under Siege by Islamic Groups

  • (General Dispatch) –  According to a media outlet, it was reported that French authorities arrested an 18-year-old female who was allegedly planning an attack with her family on a church.
  • The Directorate General of Internal Security (DGSI) conducted a raid on her home, where certain devices were seized, after the teenager was making suspicious messages through social networks, about attacking a church in Montpellier.
  • According to the newspaper Le Parisien detailed that in the house were found chemical substances for the elaboration of bombs, apart from different documents that instructed the way to make them, in addition to homemade bombs already finished.
  • On the other hand, Le Parisien reported that the authorities asked some questions to the neighbors to know about any suspicious attitude, but they said that the family was very reserved.
  • French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin thanked the French national security (DGSI) for doing its job and being able to defend citizens from any threat to the integrity of citizens.
  • Authorities have intensified their efforts to prevent such attacks after a church in the city of Nice was attacked by a radical Islamist man, killing three people and injuring others.
  • Christian churches are currently under threat from Islamic extremist groups, and have raised concerns about their safety after the murder of Roman Catholic priest Father Jacques Hamel.
