Italians Rise up Against Restriction Measures

  • By John Deloria
  • (General Dispatch) –  A survey conducted by Euromedia Research revealed that a large part of the Italian population is against the restrictions on freedom that the government has tried to enforce.
  • The survey concluded that 70% of Italians no longer want to comply with the regulations to stay in their homes, and 30% said they have had symptoms of anxiety and stress affecting them psychologically.
  • On the other hand, 26.8% advised that the restriction measures should still be maintained, but that sectors should be evaluated where the virus does not manifest itself in an accelerated manner, and health conditions are more stable.
  • 15.8% have shown concern about the effects caused by the blockades, slowing down and releasing negative data about the Italian economy, different sectors of goods and services are at their worst.
  • However, the survey has varied according to the demographic area that has been conducted, for example the area where a large student population is maintained 22.5% thinks that Italians should learn to live with covid-19, as opposed to 8% who differ from the opinion.
  • Even the percentages in the survey may vary according to the influence of the political parties on the population; the “right-wing party” supports a total opening in the country as opposed to the “left-wing party” which expects restrictions to remain in place.
  • For now, the government has not announced any apparent relaxation of the restrictions, after the European Commission announced the third wave of coronavirus, where different nations are again witnessing an increase of covid, as in the case of France.
