  • By Ely Márquez
  • (General Dispatch) –  According to information provided by the State Department, the United States is considering the possibility of participating in the boycott of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.
  • State Department spokesman Ned Price said that the nation is considering boycotting the games as a punitive measure against China, which is bent on constantly violating human rights.
  • The rhetoric of the controversial statement comes after some diplomatic clashes between China and the United States weeks ago.
  • All indications are that the games will take place in Beijing from February 4-22, 2022.
  • Although the United States does not have an orchestrated plan, it does not set aside the possibility of acting in the manner described above.
  • One way or another, China must be sanctioned for its continued persistence in violating the human rights of its citizens.
  • At the same time, Joe Biden said that the United States is prepared to work with Beijing when needed; its allies also support the proposal.
  • Finally, it will be up to the White House to decide whether the Winter Olympic Games to be held in Beijing will have a major impact on the development of its activities.
