- (General Dispatch) – Media reports claimed that ministers are evaluating a possible measure that would require minors to have a “vaccination passport” to allow them access to public events.
- Although Minister Boris Johnson has not developed a definitive answer on exactly which sites or for which services the vaccination passport will be required, the idea of the certificate has been under constant cross-party debate.
- Such an initiative may not come to fruition in the short term, but it will remain under discussion as the immunization campaign has not prioritized minors, so he does not see the need to require the certificate.
- Even so, it is being proposed that the test be applied to them, to rule out if they have covid 19, while the restrictions of the coronavirus imposed by the British government are gradually being relaxed.
- On the other hand, educational institutions have required students to maintain biosecurity measures, emphasizing the use of masks, a measure that has caused discomfort to representatives.
- The education department announced that it expects the biosecurity measures to be maintained until May 17, being applied at all educational levels from high schools to university.
- Student representatives said that the use of masks can have negative effects on their children’s development by limiting social interaction, besides affecting their health.
- For now the use of a “vaccination passport” is still one of the ideas under development, according to Minister Johnson the entrance to pubs will not require the certificate, even though Conservative Minister Mark Harper warned that if it is implemented in general, it will create a division in the British community.
