DHS Should Intervene to Stop Human Traffickers from Posting on Facebook
- By Wayne Rodrigo
- (General Dispatch) – John Katko issued a request this week to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to take appropriate measures to regulate social networks such as Facebook and prevent organized crime.
- As indicated in previous days, criminal groups operating in Mexico through the Facebook platform offer travel with fast, safe and reliable crossing to the United States.
- Groups dedicated to human trafficking in alliance with drug cartels have found a new market niche through Facebook, obtaining profits of up to 400 million dollars last month.
- Regarding the DHS request, it assured that they maintain strict control and surveillance to regulate the country’s criminal operations, with special attention to the border.
- Meanwhile, Facebook affirms that the verifiers are in fact carrying out their work without finding any major incidents and will block any publication that violates the company’s policies.
- Antagonistically, the constant flow of immigrants at the South Texas border has allowed organized crime groups to achieve their goals, a controversy between new legislation and Biden’s executive orders.
- Accordingly, Katko will make every effort to ensure that DHS addresses the requirements of this new development that defrauds and misrepresents thousands of people seeking a better quality of life.
- In the meantime, the humanitarian and immigration crisis on the Texas border continues to be in a state of total anarchy.
