Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama Triumphs at Masters Tournament

- (General Dispatch) – The 85th Masters tournament took place this Sunday at the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, a competition in which the Japanese Hideki Matsuyama defeated Xander Schauffele.
- It is important to highlight that the victory obtained by Matsuyama writes history for his nation as the first male golfer from Japan to win a major championship.
- According to Matsuyama, “Hopefully, I will be a pioneer and many other Japanese will follow me.
- The 29-year-old Matsuyama shot a 65 in Saturday’s third round, finishing the tournament with a 10-under 278.
- At the same time, Matsuyama was a five-time winner on the PGA Tour, earning more than $2 million in prize money after his victory at Augusta.
- However, Schauffele was following in Matsuyama’s footsteps at 10-over par, straight to the 16th hole in 3-over par. However, he collapsed with a triple bogey and was out of the match.
- Consequently, on the front nine Schauffele pocketed three birdies, but also had two bogeys and a double bogey, finishing at even-par 72.
- Undoubtedly, this Sunday was a very close contest in which the Japanese Hideki Matsuyama was the winner.
