Vaccine passport Project to be Limited by European Countries

  • By John Deloria
  • (General Dispatch) – The media have stated that after a debate held by the member countries of the European Commission; they decided that the scope of the vaccination passport will be limited.
  • The countries agreed that by approving the certificate, it does not mean that Europeans will be able to travel to different destinations if governments decide to restrict the exit, it will be valid even if they are vaccinated.
  • According to the newspaper El País, it was reported that it should not be a travel document that could encourage any kind of discrimination against those who have not been immunized.
  • It is presumed that the vaccine passport will be valid for about 12 months, even though the member countries are advising the European Commission to use it until the WHO announces the end of the pandemic.
  • The president of the European Commission Ursula Von Der Leyen had planned that the green pass will start to be used even after the end of the pandemic, being an indispensable document for future pandemics or other diseases.
  • It should be noted that there is a difference between the “Council of the European Union” with the “European Council”, for now the decision has been issued is the ministers of each member country of the bloc.
  • The European Council had previously said that the WHO should not be given so much decision-making power to handle certain health issues in each nation.
  • For now, it has been proposed that the certificate will start to be used from June, but approval by the European Parliament must be awaited.
