- (General Dispatch) – After officials presented additional last-minute evidence, Judge Peter Cahill questioned the trial in the Minnesota case against former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin.
- Officials asked Dr. Martin Tobin to testify once again, commenting that carbon monoxide from a nearby police vehicle potentially played a role in George Floyd’s death.
- Contrarily, Tobin disagreed with Fowler’s analysis that Floyd’s blood was 10-18% saturated with carbon monoxide.
- Notably, Cahill rejected the prosecution’s attempt to introduce the test results into evidence at the last minute, following an objection by defense counsel.
- Once the prosecution and defense heard each of the testimonies, they were dismissed from the cohort until Monday.
- In the meantime, the jury will evaluate each of the closing arguments to subsequently render Chauvin’s guilt or innocence.
- For his part, Chauvin decided not to testify at his own trial on Thursday, invoking his Fifth Amendment rights.
- The controversy surrounding the Chauvin case remains in dispute and it may be known this Monday whether the former officer is found guilty or not guilty.
