- (General Dispatch) – A few weeks ago the French authorities had arrested a man who murdered a Jewish woman, but his trial was under discussion, as he was under the influence of psychotropic substances.
- The man identified as Kobili Traoré murdered an elderly woman named Sarah Halimi, being his neighbor, according to the court report Traore assaulted the woman and subsequently threw her out of the window.
- Apparently Traore’s defense is that he was unaware of the crime he committed, as he was excessively drugged, and that as he carried out the murder, he prayed and screamed.
- However, the trial had started last month, but the court held that Traore should not be transferred to a conventional prison but to a psychiatric center to treat his problem.
- However in 2018 another court dealt with the case, but preferred not to apply any criminal sentence, as he was under the effects of marijuana, starting a “delusional episode” in the subject.
- “We do not understand the determination and procrastination that constantly seeks to turn this murderer into an insane person, when he is a murderer whose alleged detention does not even hide his hateful anti-Semitism,” said Francis Kalifat, a member of a Jewish group.
- Kalifat criticized President Emmanuel Macron who has not taken any action to ensure that Traore receives a fair trial and pays for the crime he committed.
- On the other hand, he said that from now on Jews can be murdered and the courts will leave the murderers without charges, in total freedom, a worrying action for the community, before such impunity the family expects to raise its demand to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
