Conservatives Want to Fund U.K. Youth for Covid-19

  • By Joergen Haisem
  • (General Dispatch) – Two members of Boris Johnson’s party have put forward a bill to fund young people to the tune of £500 in coronavirus relief funds.
  • The bill is similar to the one approved by President Biden’s administration after the Democrats asked Congress for $1.9 billion, a stimulus of $1,400 for each citizen.
  • Studies estimate that the project proposed by the conservatives will cost the taxpayer £2.8 billion, such a measure will help the young population who were severely affected by the loss of their jobs.
  • “The government should consider following President Biden’s lead and issue Covid relief payments to those hardest hit by the pandemic. A £500 stimulus for every 18-24 year old in the UK, one of the hardest hit age groups, would cost around £2.8 billion” said a report by the Conservatives.
  • Members of other parties have disagreed, and are concerned that this measure will pass as the country has requested a large amount of money to deal with the coronavirus.
  • When other important sectors require funding, it seems that members of the Conservatives have said that money cannot be wasted, and approved without proper planning, as this may affect the nation’s GDP.
  • Studies have revealed that the debt of Great Britain is 2 trillion dollars, a high figure, and in the future, taxpayers will be the ones to suffer, as they may perceive considerable increases in taxes.
  • Conservative Harris-Quinney said “We will pay a very high price for it in the future in taxes, in inflation and in the cost of servicing the debt. That’s how we get to the ‘you will own nothing and be happy’ scenario that the World Economic Forum wants.”
