April 12 opening of various venues including pubs in the United Kingdom

  • (General Dispatch) –  Minister Boris Johson reported that on April 12 when they reopen different sites including pubs, he will be one of the first people to attend. Putting aside the “vaccine passport” issue.
  • The minister made the announcement through press conferences and urged to congratulate the whole community of Great Britain, since thanks to the effort made in the immunization campaigns; more than 31 million people have been vaccinated.
  • Johson said that for the time being he will be lifting some restrictions as it had been set out in his agenda, and for the time being he does not see any complications that at some point it will be necessary to modify it.
  • However, at least two PCR-like tests will be performed in the population, either in pharmacies or at work, as a precautionary measure and to rule out a possible future outbreak of Covid-19.
  • Most places will be opened for the British community to be able to relax, such as pubs, zoos, gyms, hairdressing salons, among others, where outdoor activities can be carried out.
  • However, the population is concerned about a possible outbreak and the reapplication of the coronavirus law that forced the inhabitants to remain locked up in their homes for a period of time, limiting their freedom once again.
  • Johson affirmed that everything can be kept under control as long as the inhabitants comply with the measures that have been adopted according to their agenda, besides continuing to support the immunization campaign.
  • On the other hand, the project to apply the “vaccine passport” is under discussion and will not become a reality at least in the short term; different parties have generated debate about the possible consequences of implementing it.
