French Senate Approves bill Against Xenophobia

  • By Anton Grillo
  • (General Dispatch) –  The French Senate approved a bill that would prevent any act of discrimination on the basis of religion, sex, race and ethnicity against those meetings that are held and prevent the entry of certain people.
  • Such measures were introduced as a modification to the bill since Senator Stéphane Le Régulier of the center-right had contributed to separatism in the French.
  • Such a modification has been necessary, after a survey had reported that the majority of French people see Islamists as a problem for the nation, 7 out of 10 do not approve of extremist Islamism.
  • The origin of this proposal was because the French National Union of Students (Unef) has held several meetings, limiting access for those who are white.
  • On the other hand, the radio station BFMTV through a radio program unveiled a feminist music festival that took place in 2016 that allowed only African-American women to enter.
  • Minister Marlene Schiappa, supports President Macron’s decisions to be against this modification, as they approve that meetings are held in private because it can avoid violence such as sexual assaults among others.
  • The French Ministry of Interior was one of the originators of the separatism when it ordered, and did not allow the entry of three Islamist associations after they did not sign a charter of values of Islam under imposition of the French government.
