Joe Biden Designs Program to Provide Food for 34 Million Low-Income Children
- By Anton Grillo
- (General Dispatch) – This Monday, the White House announced that President Joe Biden is designing a program that aims to provide food to at least 30 million low-income children.
- According to the program, it will provide $375 for each child to have access to the food necessary for their development in at least 10 weeks that they are absent from school.
- The program is being driven by the department’s Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer funds, funded by President Joe Biden’s Rescue Plan.
- The proposal was initially formulated after learning that many low-income American children are unable to access nutritious food during the summer.
- It is important to mention, that Joe Biden has given continuity to the programs that in 2020 after the closure of schools due to the covid-19 pandemic have covered this important sector of the population.
- Food insecurity has been significantly affecting low-income families, making this a top priority for Joe Biden in the coming days.
- However, the constant increase in the nation’s public spending in the various bills designed by President Biden may generate a budget deficit.
- According to Stacy Dean, the department’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services, the aid will be reaching the neediest families this summer.
