Capital One Announces to Employees that Justice Will Come When Systemic Racism is Eradicated

  • By William Silgueiro
  • (General Dispatch) – Through an email Leadership at Capital One announced to its 52,000 workers that it condemns systemic racism in the United States, on the heels of the conviction of Derek Chauvin.
  • It is important to mention that the email was obtained by The Daily Wire which incorporates a famous phrase that says “justice will not come until systemic racism is dismantled”.
  • Nevertheless, the company sent a message of solidarity to George Floyd’s family, claiming that justice did its job and that they have the company’s support, as well as that of all citizens of African descent.
  • The company celebrated the fact that after a year in which the black community has had to face the trauma of several murders by the police, and that today justice has been done is hardly fair.
  • Undoubtedly, systemic racism has led to marginalization in the United States, maintaining an air of superiority for the simple fact of belonging to white supremacists is truly devastating.
  • In essence, Capital One claims in the email that it is strictly bound “in diversity, inclusion and belonging in the workplace” by any citizen who regardless of race is eligible to join the company.
  • Clearly, the corporation is directing the resources at its disposal to help mitigate systemic racism and provide an enabling environment for inclusion.
  • Finally, Capital One will ask employees during the job interview the “diversity quota”, a mechanism to know if the applicant is free of racism and has the ability to work for a corporation free of “systemic racism”.
