- (General Dispatch) – Breitbart News reported that Senator Cynthia Lummis has introduced a new bill that will allow young people to purchase firearms again.
- The senator introduced “The Second Amendment Equal Mandates (SAME) Act of 2021” where she will allow young people ages 18 to 20 to purchase firearms as long as it is through a federally licensed dealer.
- Lummis said it is time for young people to have the same rights as adults, and we need to start trusting them more to defend the country.
- The senator gave as an example a young single mother, with children and in a hostile scenario must defend them, what better way than to let a woman choose a gun to save her family’s life.
- If 18 to 20 year olds have the right to choose any public official through electoral elections, apart from making business contracts, getting married, or serving in the military, he sees no need to limit this part of the population.
- “Eighteen-year-olds can carry a gun to defend our country in military service, but they cannot purchase a firearm from licensed dealers. Americans between the ages of 18 and 21 are adults in the eyes of the law, and their Second Amendment right to defend themselves and their families should not be infringed,” said Republican Senator Mike Braun.
- Several Republican senators have supported the bill, and are hopeful that it will pass, as they see the current measure as unconstitutional and putting Americans’ freedom at risk.
