- (General Dispatch) – A group of U.S. professionals are requesting the repeal of legislation passed under former President Obama that allows U.S. companies to subcontract with foreign workers on H-1B visas.
- Workers who were fired as a result of Obama’s measure are asking the U.S. District Court for a judgment ordering that the spouses of H-1B visa workers not be allowed to access a job.
- It is worth noting that in recent statements Joe Biden said he will not take any action to eliminate the current legislation.
- The workers accuse Biden of inflating the labor market by allowing non-U.S. citizens to have priority, without taking into account the massive influx of illegal immigrants.
- The claims of this group of workers are valid enough, in that it is the job of the U.S. government to ensure that its members have the first choice enshrined in its Magna Carta.
- Consequently, the H-1B visa program empowers companies to allow at least 85,000 foreign workers to enter the country annually to fill jobs.
- Meanwhile, thousands of U.S. workers are being unjustifiably laid off by corporations without any legislation to advocate on their behalf.
- Everything seems to indicate that the nation’s workforce belongs to foreign professionals and not to its citizens. For this reason, the members of the group hope that their petitions can be considered.
