Third Coronavirus Vaccine Approved in the U.S.

  • (General Dispatch) – There is good news for the USA, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine was approved by the Food and Drug Administration to begin to be injected to its citizens, having good results with only one dose.
  • It is expected to start producing larger quantities of the vaccine in order to combat the virus that has generated new strains worldwide. Raising the mortality rate by 510,000 in the U.S. alone.
  • The FDA affirmed that the vaccine has a high percentage of protection against the most worrying symptoms of Covid. With only one injection, results of 85% effectiveness were obtained in a study carried out in three continents.
  • One of the main characteristics that make this vaccine different from others is that it is easy to transport and does not require strict conservation measures.
  • The distribution of 20 million units will begin on Monday in different states of the country and is expected to reach 100 million units by the summer.
  • There is the expectation that it will be authorized worldwide (WHO) to be used in case of emergency in Europe, the company’s goal is to produce 1 billion units by the end of the year.
  • The great debate on the matter is that people are wondering what type of vaccine should be applied; it should be taken into account that the % may vary according to the country where the study is carried out due to the variants of the virus.
  • The FDA indicated that the side effects of the vaccine are mild, being similar to those of the flu such as fever, headache or fatigue. For the time being, it will be used with older adults and will later be used to immunize adolescents and children.
