HHS Requests Defense Department Assistance in Response to Border Crisis

  • By Joergen Haisem
  • (General Dispatch) – According to information provided by the Pentagon, the Department of Health and Human Services requested assistance from the Department of Defense to detain unaccompanied immigrant children coming from Mexico.
  • The information was released at a press conference held at the Pentagon, after making the request for shelter for immigrants in a public agency infrastructure located in San Antonio, Texas.
  • It should be noted that if the request were to be approved, it would violate the privacy of the National Guard who use the space for training and are the ones who reside in the place.
  • According to CNN, it is estimated that at least 5,000 children are being guarded by the Customs and Border Protection Office. This would explain part of the desperation of the relevant agencies to address the immigration emergency.
  • It is presumed that the request proceeded immediately after Axios.com published heartbreaking images of the immigration and humanitarian crisis in Texas.
  • However, the scenario at the border is not very encouraging, it is demonstrated that these actions are a reflection of the emergency of the authorities in the face of the arrival of more immigrant children to the country.
  • The presence of the National Guard and the Border Patrol is not enough in the face of the constant flow of immigrants, coupled with the activities of cartels and criminal groups involved in human trafficking.
  • In short, the immigration and human crisis on the southern border of Texas continues to escalate in recent weeks, highlighting the incompetence of the White House administration in response to its call to the country’s borders.
