- (General Dispatch) – In a recent report it was leaked that the British government is planning to force all healthcare workers to take the vaccine as a protective measure to treat the virus.
- Reactions from the health sector have not been long in coming, where some members have refused to receive the vaccine on a mandatory basis.
- The British government was also incredulous at the negative reaction from the health sector when the possibility of them taking the vaccine on a mandatory basis was raised.
- “While it is for Government and parliament to decide which groups of people are required to get the vaccine, the NHS national medical director and chief nurse agree with Chris Whitty, with the chairman of the BMA and other professional leaders that NHS staff have a duty to be vaccinated unless they have a valid clinical reason not to do so.” A government spokesman added
- In the face of inordinate rejection by some health sectors, the British government is thinking of removing those people who do not want to take the vaccine, or sending them to positions that are not frontline in the fight against COVID.
- After a months-long campaign promoting that the vaccines would be free and voluntary, the release of this report exposes the British government and raises suspicions about how real the possibility of not taking the vaccine will be if someone chooses to do so.
- “Forced vaccinations are the wrong way to go, and send out a sinister and worrying message.” The general secretary of Unison, a leading NHS union, Christina McAnea said.
- In the UK, vaccination campaigns continue to be promoted and the country says it expects to have the vast majority of the population vaccinated with the first dose by summer this year.
