Facebook to Remove Whatsaap for Users who Reject its Privacy Terms

  • By Wayne Rodrigo
  • (General Dispatch) – The popular instant messaging app will inactivate the accounts of those who do not accept the upcoming privacy policies on May 15, according to a report by TechCrunch.
  • The measure to be taken by the application under the control of facebook will be to inactivate those accounts that do not accept the new privacy terms, those accounts that remain inactive for a period of 120 days will be permanently deleted from the platform.
  • Also, the application will progressively remind those who do not accept the new terms that their account will be deleted if they do not take this step, as its purpose is still to have as many users available as possible.
  • Recall that the application of new privacy terms in the app received the repudiation of its users, this caused a great loss of users so the proposal was postponed until May 12.
  • Whatsaap in a statement said that there was a disinformation campaign against the application since the new policies had no significant changes regarding the personal privacy of each user.
  • The company’s spokespersons in an effort to make their users understand the new determinations have made communications and information campaigns with which they assure everyone will remain the same. It will only be allowed to connect facebook with Whatsapp to have more specific information regarding the ads of the social network.
  • During the time of uncertainty and lack of information from Whatsapp many users migrated to Telegram and there seems to be no return for them.
  • The reality is that the new privacy policies will come against all odds, we will see if this time they are well received by users or the massive migration to other instant messaging options continues.
