Tesla Closes its Production Line Temporarily

  • By Wayne Rodrigo
  • (General Dispatch) – The electronic vehicle produced by Elon Musk’s company was forced to suspend the production line of the Model 3 due to a shortage of microchips, according to the company.
  • The production line is expected to be shut down until at least March 7, when it will have the necessary inventory to continue vehicle production.
  • The report was compiled by Bloomberg, which gathered valuable information regarding the payments and when the workers will return to the plant.
  • The report states that employees will be paid for February 22 and 23, but will not be paid from February 28 to March 3. The company also invited those employees who have pending vacations to take them during this time.
  • Although it has not been entirely clear why the production stoppage is presumed to be a lack of components that have not arrived at the factory. Each Tesla vehicle is composed of 10,000 parts where if one is missing it cannot be produced.
  • It seems that the auto industry is suffering from a shortage of inputs since it is not only Tesla who was forced to reduce its production, but also large companies such as Ford, Nissan, Toyota and Fiat announced a decrease in their production capacity.
  • Musk’s company is expected to be back to full production capacity by mid-March.
  • Tesla remains the world leader in the production and sale of electronic vehicles. More innovations are expected to come from Elon Musk and his companies in the coming years.
