Texas Electrical Staff Resigns

  • By Stephen. G. Halston
  • (General Dispatch) – The chairman of the board and 5 members resigned due to the power failure caused by the major storm that affected Texas leaving 4.5 million Texans without electric service.
  • The five members were forced to resign because they could not solve the major electricity problem in Texas, leaving citizens to survive without service.
  • The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) assured that the infrastructure was prepared for this type of storm, but at the time the assurances turned out to be totally false. Texas Governor Gregg Abbott said “that this type of situation is unacceptable”.
  • ERCOT was severely criticized after the power failure, and the names of the management in charge disappeared from the website due to threats, and the people in charge of the organization did not reside in Texas.
  • Governor Abbott received the resignations, and issued a statement to the residents of Texas assuring them that the ERCOT organization will be investigated, and that this type of event will never happen again in the state, and he intends to set a precedent.
  • Texas, being one of the states with the highest production and consumption of energy, is not under federal regulations, since its generation is independent, which could be one of the reasons why the state overlooked some of its obligations.
  • Citizens are questioning why ERCOT, knowing that Texas faces high temperatures, was not prepared for this type of weather event.
  • The state of Texas will have to take action after this storm, following up on the infrastructure and reinforcing its energy system so that another weather event does not affect the lives of Texans in the same way.
