U.S. Troops to Remain in Afghanistan

  • By James kravitz
  • (General Dispatch) – The US goal of exiting the Afghanistan war by this year is an illusion going with former President Trump’s plans, rumor has it that Biden will still keep troops in Afghanistan despite there being a May 1 deadline for withdrawal.
  • In the campaign it was stated that the US would withdraw troops from Afghanistan but President Biden has not yet fulfilled his promise as did former Presidents Bush and Obama leaving eternal wars without any kind of solution.
  • Senator Jack Reed stated that the withdrawal deadline is being extended to give the Afghan government more time to negotiate with the Taliban.
  • Reed said that abruptly withdrawing troops could lead to major destabilization in the region, as Afghanistan must be monitored because it is often a haven for terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda and Daesh.
  • The U.S. seeks the safety of its citizens and the rest of the world, and wants to ensure that leaving the Islamic Republic does not lead to attempts to plan some other type of terrorist attack.
  • Michael McCaul, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, hopes that the Biden administration, along with Secretary Blinken and State Counsel Jake Sullivan, can reach an agreement to negotiate with Afghanistan and leave a small number of troops to provide security for the Islamic nation.
  • Director General of Inter-Services Pakistan Public Relations (ISPR) Babar Iftikhar referred to Pakistan’s position which has been very positive and has contributed to peace in Afghanistan.
  • Iftikhar added that Afghanistan is no longer the same vulnerable and broken nation as before; from now on with the acquired capabilities it will be impossible for the Taliban to recapture Kabul, and commit violent acts.
