Democratic Party Calls on Biden to Cancel Student Pledges

  • By Wayne Rodrigo
  • (General Dispatch) – A large number of congressional Democrats continue to support the request made to President Joe Biden to make the payments corresponding to the student debt.
  • Senator Chuck Schumer clearly warned the current president in previous days to make the payment corresponding to the debt of this important sector.
  • In the meantime, Biden intends to make the payment as soon as possible for only $10,000, which is simply not enough.
  • This unfortunate decision would be a cruel violation of the right of the nation’s students to continue their education. It seems not to be an issue of primary concern to the White House.
  • For its part, the Philadelphia City Council has made significant progress, calling on the nation’s new administration to enact a plan to complete the cancellation of student loan debt before the end of the first 100 days of its term.
  • Likewise, the congressmen hope that the White House will initiate the transformation of education as a public good.
  • In fact, the current president’s comments were framed in such a way that the possibility of partially canceling the student debt, which amounts to $50,000, is totally discarded.
  • In the meantime, the student sector is waiting for the payment of the debt that they are so eager for and that the Democratic senators support and continue to fight to achieve this right.
