- (General Dispatch) – After last year’s devastating pandemic hit the city of Detroit last year, Mayor Mike Duggan emphasized that the human losses and the number of infected people were many, and that he would work hard to prevent further spread.
- After a very difficult year for the city in which covid-19 left at least 341 confirmed cases according to records as of March 30 last year, and a few hundred dead. The work and efforts to overcome the contagions did not take long.
- The governor, together with the health authorities, applied rapid tests and reinforced security measures in the nation, counteracting the effects of the virus on the population.
- Continuous prevention information campaigns were held in churches and other organizations in order to raise awareness among citizens.
- By December 2020, the population began to receive the vaccine, and citizens began to receive it in the different places where it was distributed.
- The governor’s work in other counties of the nation has been catalogued as an example. The figures reflect fewer cases compared to other cities.
- The governor’s leadership and the support of the Baptist church have been fundamental in the development of prevention strategies.
- Currently, important efforts are being made to ensure that the entire population is vaccinated and to move on to a new stage once Covid-19 has been eradicated.
