Biden’s Foreign Policy Team Exhorted by China on Nation’s Human Rights Violations

  • By Ely Marquez
  • (General Dispatch) -During a meeting in Anchorage, Alaska, Chinese diplomat Yang Jiechi called on Secretary of State Tony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.
  • The call for attention was due to the Black Lives Matter movement, concerning the oppression of human rights in the United States.
  • It should be noted that the summit is one of the first rapprochements between the two nations since President Joe Biden took office.  The purpose is to break completely with the policies established by Trump.
  • The event arose as Blinken spoke of the “rules-based international order” and expressed “deep concern” about China’s behavior in “Xinjiang, Hong Kong, Taiwan, cyber-attacks on the United States, economic coercion towards our allies.”
  • Subsequently, the comment sparked fury from Jiechi, who immediately responded that the statements violate diplomatic protocol, that the U.S. could not deliberately put China on trial.
  •  However, China immediately objected to U.S. interference in the internal affairs of the Chinese nation, stressing that it was the province of its government and not of international volunteers.
  • He also pointed out that the United States also has a human rights issue, “deeply rooted” in the last four years as “Black Lives Matter”.
  • Finally, once the dissertation was over, the Chinese government is happy for the return of the United States to the summit, where it is expected to strengthen international treaties for the development of both continents.
