- (General Dispatch) – The Chinese Communist Party announced that it will sanction several political figures in the United Kingdom in retaliation after the British government claimed that China was committing crimes in the Xinjiang region.
- A representative of the CCP Foreign Ministry said the measures were taken as the British government sanctioned CCP political figures for supporting acts of violence against human rights.
- The ministry representative said “These decisions seriously interfere in China’s internal affairs and seriously undermine relations between the two countries.”
- China blocked 9 people and 4 institutions that according to them were carrying out a disinformation campaign, certain measures will be to freeze accounts and properties of officials and prevent entry into the country.
- On the other hand, the representative of the ministry warned the United Kingdom that if they make this type of sanctions again, China will respond in the same way, leading to an even more serious political problem.
- Sir Iain Duncan Smith, a former minister in London, said: “It is our duty to speak out against the Chinese government’s abuse of human rights in Hong Kong and the genocide of the Uighurs, and this kind of violence cannot be allowed”
- Sir Iain implied that their work is getting the expected results; he said that if the CCP is acting in this way with sanctions that means they are indeed committing crimes against humanity in the Xinjiang region.
- Other nations have also imposed sanctions on CCP officials, and have advised the Asian country to stop the genocide it has been committing and rethink its authority, as the international community will use all political and diplomatic means to prevent such violent acts.
